Switching to low fat options seems like the obvious choice for people who are looking to lose weight. Those fat free snacks that are available in the supermarket can do more harm than good. Surprised? Well, these snacks cut down on the fat but they really cut down on sugar? Low fat doesn't necessarily mean low sugar and we all know what sugar does to our diet.
I was at Pandara Road once and everyone was picking the delicious phirnees available at their famous sweet shop. I decided to go with the sugar free option when the shop owner immediately highlighted - "it is only sugar free, it isn't fat free!"
What is the current fad? Target the carbs in your diet. Every one consumes lesser carbs but we forget that we shouldn't alter our "balanced diet" just based on some researches that happen at Universities. Did you know that cutting all carbs from your diet isn't the right way to roll? Consume complex carbohydrates like peas, beans, whole grains instead of the carbs that are contained in pizzas, etc. Low carbohydrate products are normally really high in fat and then that isn't good for the body in high quantities either.
The best way to go about starting eating healthy is not following a fad-diet. Live healthy, eat smart and work out.
It's time to kick it into high gear!
